Urgent Information regarding Passport

NOTICE:

1) You cannot travel by hand written passport. Please apply for renewing them to Machine Readable Passports (MRP)as soon as possible.

2) We are now conducting Live Enrollment for MRP Application. Thus, you have to come in person to the Embassy with necessary documents and application form. Please note that the handwritten MRP Application Forms are NOT accepted.

3)Applicant MUST present their valid Passport when applying for an MRP. Applications submitted without a Passport will not be accepted.

4)When collecting newly issued MRP (via post or in person), original Passport (Old) is needed so that embassy can cancel the original (old) one.

(P1) Regular Passport or Renewal of Expiring Passport (Processing time: 5-7 weeks)

  • Two copies of the completed and printed application form.
    (Please Download the Form here. To Save the Form 'Right Click' on the downloaded Form and click on 'Save As'. Save the Form on your computer then fill the Form. To Print, please select Option 'NONE' on 'Page Scaling' or 'ACTUAL SIZE', then Print the completed Form)
  • Valid Passport & Photocopy of passport
  • Note: If you have pending visa appliccation at home office and you need to apply for MRP without passport, please ensure that you provide Home Office letter which includes your home office or case reference number
  • Photocopy of Citizenship Certificate
  • Total 2 pp size photographs (borderless, white background, colour, size 35mm x 45mm)
  • Due to the Live MRP enrolment system, the applicant must visit the embassy with cash of (£110) for passport fee except for the special circumstances
  • The application by post is no longer accepted except for the special circumstances. However, applicant from Ireland, Malta or Iceland can apply for MRP by post. If applying by post, please enclose bank draft or postal order of (£110) made payable to 'Embassy of Nepal' and a separate (£10) bank draft or postal order for the self addressed return envelope (for renewed passport to be sent back). In addition, postal application should send 4 pp size photographs (borderless, white background, colour, size 35mm x 45mm)


  • Photographs for MRP passport must be professionally printed with white background, standard size of (35mm x 45mm), border less and 80% of your face should be shown. Taking photos at Professional photo studios are highly recommended.

    Handwritten MRP Application forms are NOT accepted. Please kindly 'download', 'save' and 'fill' the Application Form online, then, 'PRINT' the form. click here

(P2) Replacement of Damaged, Torn or Lost Passport (Processing time: 5-7 weeks)

  • Two copies of the completed and printed application form.
    (Please Download the Form here. To Save the Form 'Right Click' on the downloaded Form and click on 'Save As'. Save the Form on your computer then fill the Form. To Print, please select Option 'NONE' on 'Page Scaling' or 'ACTUAL SIZE', then Print the completed Form)
  • Application of details of loss, damage, or tear
  • Photocopy of lost Passport
  • Police report with PP No. and Name (applicable only if lost)
  • Original Nepalese citizenship certificate & also a photocopy of it
  • Total 2 pp size photographs (borderless, white background, colour, size 35mm x 45mm)
  • Due to the Live MRP enrolment system, the applicant must visit the embassy with cash of (£220) for passport fee except for the special circumstances
  • The application by post is no longer accepted except for the special circumstances and for the applicant from Ireland, Malta or Iceland. If applying by post, please enclose bank draft or postal order of (£220) made payable to 'Embassy of Nepal' and a separate (£10) bank draft or postal order for the self addressed return envelope (for renewed passport to be sent back). In addition, postal application should send 4 pp size photographs (borderless, white background, colour, size 35mm x 45mm)


(P3) Separate passports for infants (under 5 years) (Processing time: 5-7 weekss)

  • Two copies of the completed and printed application form.
    (Please Download the Form here. To Save the Form 'Right Click' on the downloaded Form and click on 'Save As'. Save the Form on your computer then fill the Form. To Print, please select Option 'NONE' on 'Page Scaling' or 'ACTUAL SIZE', then Print the completed Form)
  • An application specifying of its need from parents
  • A photocopy of birth registration certificates (having parents' name)
  • A photocopy of passport of the father AND mother of the child
  • A photocopy of citizenship certificate of the father AND mother of the child
  • Total 2 pp size photographs (borderless, white background, colour, size 35mm x 45mm)
  • Due to the Live MRP enrolment system, the applicant must visit the embassy with cash of (£55) for passport fee except for the special circumstances
  • The application by post is no longer accepted except for the special circumstances and for the applicant from Ireland, Malta or Iceland. If applying by post, please enclose bank draft or postal order of (£55) made payable to 'Embassy of Nepal' and a separate (£10) bank draft or postal order for the self addressed return envelope (for renewed passport to be sent back). In addition, postal application should send 4 pp size photographs (borderless, white background, colour, size 35mm x 45mm)
  • The MRP of Infants shall be valid for 5 years only


(P4) Children Under 16 years (Processing time: 5-7 weekss)

  • Two copies of the completed and printed application form.

  • To renew a passport for children under 16 years old, you must submit a copy of Minor Certificate(NABALAK PARICHAYAPATRA) or Birth Certificate registered in Nepal.


(P5) Travel Document (Processing time: 3 Days)

  • Documents required for travel document are same as (P1)
  • Travel itinerary
  • Fees: (£35)
  • The validity of Travel Document will remain 1 month. Thus, you will need to travel withion one month of issuance of Travel Document.


Important Information

  • Personal cheques and/or credit/debit cards are not accepted for payment.
  • Once the Passport/ Travel Document is issued, the fees will not be refunded.
  • Please send your application for passport along with required documents to the Embassy to Consular Section, Embassy of Nepal, 12 A Kensington Palace Gardens, London W8 4QU.
  • Nepalese citizens having birth place other than in Nepal and have attended the age of 16 must submit citizenship certificate for new passport
  • If the application has been made in person, please bring along your original passport and reciept when coming in to collect your renewed passport.
  • If the application has been sent via post, please send us back the original passport with request letter (stating you would require the renewed passport back.)
