Passport Information

NOTICE:

1) All hand written passports should be renewed to Machine Readable Passports (MRP) by 24 November 2015. If the applicant posesses a hand written passport, he/she can apply for an MRP any time before the expiry date.

2) Handwritten MRP Application Forms are NOT accepted.

3)Applicant MUST present their valid Passport when applying for an MRP. Applications submitted without a Passport will not be accepted.

Passport APPLICATION/COLLECTION opening & closing times
Monday - Friday (10:00 - 13:00)(14:00 - 15:00hrs)

(P1) Regular Passport or Renewal of Expiring Passport (Processing time: 3-4 Months)

  • Two copies of the application form should be completed online and printed.
    (Please Download the Form here. To Save the Form 'Right Click' on the downloaded Form and click on 'Save As'. Save the Form on your computer then fill the Form. To Print, please select Option 'NONE' on 'Page Scaling' or 'ACTUAL SIZE', then Print the completed Form)
  • Valid Passport & Photocopy of passport
  • Photocopy of Citizenship Certificate
  • Total 4 pp size photographs (borderless, white background, colour, size 35mm x 45mm)
  • If applying in person at the embassy, please bring cash of (£110) for passport fee
  • If applying by post, please enclose postal order or bank draft of (£110) should be made payable to 'Embassy of Nepal'
  • If applying by post, please enclose a Self Addressed Envelope with (Recorded delivery) stamp with the application (for renewed passport to be sent back)


  • Photographs for MRP passport must be professionally printed with white background, standard size of (45mm x 35mm), border less and 80% of your face should be shown. Taking photos at Professional photo studios are highly recommended.

    Handwritten MRP Application forms are NOT accepted. Please kindly 'download', 'save' and 'fill' the Application Form online, then, 'PRINT' the form. click here

(P2) Replacement of Damaged, Torn or Lost Passport (Processing time: 3-4 Months)

  • Two copies of the application form should be completed online and printed.
    (Please Download the Form here. To Save the Form 'Right Click' on the downloaded Form and click on 'Save As'. Save the Form on your computer then fill the Form. To Print, please select Option 'NONE' on 'Page Scaling' or 'ACTUAL SIZE', then Print the completed Form)
  • Application of details of loss, damage, or tear
  • Photocopy of lost Passport
  • Police report with PP No. and Name (applicable only if lost)
  • Original Nepalese citizenship certificate & also a photocopy of it
  • Total 4 pp size photographs (borderless, white background, colour, size 35mm x 45mm)
  • If applying in person at the embassy, please bring cash of (£220) for passport fee
  • If applying by post, please enclose postal order or bank draft of (£220) should be made payable to 'Embassy of Nepal'
  • If applying by post, please enclose a Self Addressed Envelope with (Recorded delivery) stamp with the application (for renewed passport to be sent back)
  • If it is the case that the passport is torn or damaged, the same should be submitted


(P3) Separate passports for infants (Processing time: 3-4 Months)

  • Two copies of the application form should be completed online and printed.
    (Please Download the Form here. To Save the Form 'Right Click' on the downloaded Form and click on 'Save As'. Save the Form on your computer then fill the Form. To Print, please select Option 'NONE' on 'Page Scaling' or 'ACTUAL SIZE', then Print the completed Form)
  • An application specifying of its need from parents
  • A photocopy of birth registration certificates (having parents' name)
  • A photocopy of passport of the father AND mother of the child
  • A photocopy of citizenship certificate of the father AND mother of the child
  • To renew a passport for children under 16years old, you must submit a copy of Minor Certificate(NABALAK PARICHAYAPATRA) or Birth Certificate registered in Nepal.
  • If applying in person at the embassy, please bring cash of (£110) for passport fee
  • If applying by post, please enclose postal order or bank draft of (£110) should be made payable to 'Embassy of Nepal'
  • If applying by post, please enclose a Self Addressed Envelope with (Recorded delivery) stamp with the application (for renewed passport to be sent back)


(P4) Temporary Passport (Processing time: 3 Days)

  • Requirements are same as that for (P1)
  • Temporary Passport is only issued to the applicant whose MRP is under processing to be issued
  • Fees: (£15)
  • The validity of Temporary Passport will remain 1 year


(P5) Travel Document (Processing time: 3 Days)

  • Requirements are same as that for (P1)
  • Travel itinerary
  • Fees: (£35)
  • The validity of Travel Document will remain 1 month


Important Information

  • Personal cheques and/or credit/debit cards are not accepted for payment.
  • Once the Passport/ Temporary Passport/ Travel Document is issued, the fees will not be refunded.
  • Please send your application for passport along with required documents to the Embassy to Consular Section, Embassy of Nepal, 12 A Kensington Palace Gardens, London W8 4QU.
  • Nepalese citizens having birth place other than in Nepal and have attended the age of 16 must submit citizenship certificate for new passport
  • If the application has been made in person, please bring along your original passport and reciept when coming in to collect your renewed passport.
  • If the application has been sent via post, please send us back the original passport with request letter (stating you would require the renewed passport back.)
  • When collecting newly issued MRP (via post or in person), original Passport is needed so that embassy can cancel the original one.
