HELP NEPAL Network
Help Nepal Network (HeNN) was established in late 1999 in the UK and
Nepal simultaneously. Since then the Network has expanded to dozen
different countries with registered chapters in Australia, Nepal, the UK
and the USA.
The Network aims at encouraging Nepalis, and others who love Nepal,
throughout the world to contribute to Nepal. It seeks from all working
members of the Nepalese community, and others with an interest in Nepal,
a donation of at least Ј1 or its equivalent per month. HeNN works in the
fields of health and education in mostly remote areas of Nepal. Funds
may also be directed towards emergency assistance.
In the past five years, the Network has generated around US$ 60,000 and
built schools in Dolpa, Dang, Lamjung, Parwat and Pyuthan districts and
run several Health Camps. In association with Sahara Group in Nepalgunj,
it also supported children affected by the current violence in the
country in 2003. In 2002, the Network supported flood victims of Khotang
district and in 2004, it built at the cost of over US$ 7,000 (nearly NRs
550,000) a four-bedroom Health Post in Mugu district, which is already
up and running. The Network is currently trying to raise more funds for
the Health Post. More information about the charity's activities can be

Yeti London Welfare Foundation
Founded in April 1997, the Foundation is entrusted to raise funds for
the Yeti Nepali House in London, a long cherished dream of the Nepalese
community in UK to have its own community centre in London. As the size
of the Nepalese community has been steadily growing, with the arrival of
the second generation of Nepalese, the need for such a centre has now been
strongly felt so as to provide a venue for organising various
Nepalese social and cultural events. The proposed centre also has the
objectives to impart the knowledge of Nepalese language, music and culture
to the Nepalese children and the British friends of Nepal.
The Foundation has been gearing its efforts
to raise fund with a view to purchasing a suitable site for the centre and
gradually develop it to cater the need of the community. One of the
important highlights of the planned Centre is that that it will
feature the Lord Pashupati Nath and Lord Budha, the most sacred
pilgrimages in Nepal, which symbolises the unique religious and cultural
harmony in Nepal. Thus far, the Foundation has been able to raise
about £70,000 by organising various charity events and through generous
donations from the well wishers.
