The Embassy of Nepal, London organised a programme to exchange best wishes on the auspicious occasion of the great festivals of Nepal among Nepalese people living in United Kingdom on Monday, 10th October 2016.
The programme initiated with Nepalese National Anthem followed by welcome remarks from Ambassador of Nepal to United Kingdom, His Excellency Dr. Durga Bahadur Subedi. His Excellency wished very happy and prosperous Dashain, Tihar, Nepal Sambat, Loshar, Maghi and other festivals to all Nepalese people residing in UK, Northern Ireland, Malta and Ireland.
There were around 200 guests presented at the programme. The Chief Secretary of Government of Nepal, Dr. Somlal Subedi and Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Nepal, Mr. Naindra Prasad Upadhaya were also present in the programme.
The programme was conducted by the Third Secretary, Mr. Bhupendra Prasad Ghimire.
The programme ended with exchanges of wishes among attendees followed by typical Nepalese Dashain dinner.
Same day morning, the Embassy of Nepal, London observed Flag-Raising Ceremony for the first time, where HE Ambassador, Dr. Durga Bahadur Subedi raised the flag.

The Embassy of Nepal in London, Nepal Tourism Board and Nepal Ireland Society jointly organized ‘Nepal Ireland Day’ on Sunday, 4th September 2016 to mark the 17th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Ireland, at Farmleigh, Phoenix Park in Dublin.
The Nepal Ireland Society has been organizing Nepal Day in Ireland since 2013 with support from Office of Public Works (OPW) who has been continued its exceptional support by providing the venue and all logistic help for organizing Nepal Ireland Day at Farmleigh. This year Nepal Ireland Day event was supported by NRN-Ireland, South Dublin County Council, South Dublin Migration Integration Forum and Dublin City Council.
In addition to celebration of 17th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Ireland, the event was also focused on promoting Nepal Tourism in Ireland. The visitors were fascinated by the atmosphere of Nepalese art and culture and thoroughly enjoyed different activities that was comprised of cultural performances from both Nepalese and Irish artists, a photo exhibition of 120 photographs taken by 34 Irish tourists who travelled to Nepal after the Earthquake on 25th April 2015. The event also had the Information desks of Irish Charities who are working in Nepal, video and slideshow on Nepal at Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) booth, Panche Baja and a Nepalese cultural procession in Dublin City Centre. Moreover, various delicious Nepalese Food Stalls and Nepalese Handicraft Stalls added glow to the celebratory event.
Speaking at the event, the Charge d’ Affaires a.i., Mr. Sharad Raj Aran thanked Irish Government and Irish public for providing support and help to the victims of Nepal Earthquake. Focusing on Nepal-Ireland diplomatic relationship, Mr. Aran noted that the relations between Nepal and Ireland has grown rapidly in past few years. With hope of same trend to continue with active collaboration in trade, business and investment in future for the mutual benefit of both countries, he also assured that Embassy of Nepal, London will take this as a priority going forward and will do the best it can.
Likewise, pointing out 2016 as a year to commemorate of 17th anniversary of Nepal-Ireland relationship, the Chief Guest Dublin Lord Mayor Rt. Hon. Brendan Carr appreciated to Nepal Ireland Society, Irish organisations and individuals who have involved in the effort to rebuild Nepal as sign of the close bonds between the two countries. Lord Mayor also stressed the need to establish an exclusive bond between Ireland and Nepal .
Focusing on renaming the event as ‘Nepal Ireland Day’ to celebrate the completion of 17 years of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Ireland this year, the President of Nepal Ireland Society and Nepal Tourism Board Honorary Public Relations Representative for Ireland- Mr. Deepesh Man Shakya was confident that this event will help in deepening the close connection between the two countries and get more Irish tourists to Nepal.
More than 8000 visitors visited at the exhibition and programme held at Dublin historical place Farmleigh, Phoenix Park. Former State Minister for Trade and Development Mr. Joe Costello, Former Member of European Parliament and Former Dublin Lord Mayor Ms. Emer Costello, NRNA European Regional Co-ordinator Mr. Kul Acharya and NRN Ireland President Mr. Rajan Kafle also spoke at the opening ceremony. All of them echoed the gratification in attending the event and stressed on the need to take this further to form an excellent bond between the two countries and as well as amongthe people of Nepal and Ireland. Likewise, in the welcome speech, the Senior Vice President Dr. Jane Fenlon and Vice President Mr. Jiwan Timalsina of Nepal Ireland Society thanked the guests for being a part of this historical chapter in the link between Nepal and Ireland.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Deputy Director Mr. Brian O Brien, Colonel Pradeep Jung KC from Embassy of Nepal and various other dignitaries were also present at the ceremony.

The Embassy of Nepal, London and Nepal Tourism Board UK jointly participated in London Mela which was held in Wembley Park, London on Saturday, 3rd September 2016. The main aim of participation was to promote Nepal, its diverse culture, art, crafts, traditions, religious and culture heritage in London. The Embassy of Nepal in London has been participating in London Mela since 2010.
The Embassy of Nepal, London and Nepal Tourism board set up stall displaying diverse information about Nepal. At the stall, there was also tourism information desk which assisted potential tourists to Nepal with necessary travel and tourism information. The participating staff of the Embassy and Nepal Tourism Board also involved in distributing leaflet and sharing the information about the potentiality of Nepalâ€™s tourism.
At the Cultural stage of London Mela, Miss Muskan Ghimire, Miss Oshin Thapa, Miss Tina Balal and Miss Guna Thapa performed Nepalese Folk dances whereas Mr. Binod Chipalu from Pasa Pusah Guthi Samaj performed Lakhe dance. The Naumati Baja was also played around the stall and VIP reception by First Naumati Baja Gulmi Samaj UK.
In the afternoon, Mayor of Brent, Hon. Cllr Parvez Ahmed and the Leader of Brent Council, Cllr Muhammed Butt hosted the reception. There were speeches from various prominent personalities including The Worshipful Mayor of London- Rt. Hon. Sadiq Khan.
The Third Secretary of Embassy- Mr. Bhupendra Prasad Ghimire, Attache, Mr. Tejendra Regmi, Nepal Tourism Board HPRR- Mr. Pashupati Bhandari, Embassy staffs and various other Nepalese prominent persons were present at the London Mela and VIP reception.
