Earthquake Memorial Day
The Embassy of Nepal, London organised Earthquake Memorial Day on 25th April at Embassy to commemorate the anniversary of devastating Earthquake that struck Nepal on 25th April 2015. The Commemoration ceremony started with a minutes of silence in which was leaded by the Worshipful Mayor of Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Councillor Robert Freeman.

Parliamentary visit from Nepal
The speaker of Legislature Parliament of Nepal, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Onsari Gharti Magar-led delegation of Nepal Parliamentarians arrived in London on Sunday, 17th April 2016. The other delegation of Nepal Parliament includes Chief Whip of Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party Hon. Chinkaji Shrestha, Chip Whip of Communist Party of Nepal Hon. Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, Chip Whip of Maoist Hon. Hit Raj Pandey, Chief Whip of RPPN Hon. Dil Nath Giri, Secretary General Mr. Manohar Prasad Bhattarai and Parliament Secretariat Mr. Mukunda Sharma.

Memorial Gates, Constitution Hill, Commemoration Ceremony on Commonwealth Day
Chargés d' Affaires a. i. – Mr Tej Bahadur Chhetri participated in the Commemoration ceremony on Commonwealth Day at the Memorial Gates, Constitution Hill, Hyde Park, London on Monday 14 March 2016. Mr. Chhetri also laid wreath at the Memorial Gates, Constitution Hill, in honour of heroes of First and Second World-Wars. On the occasion, one minute silence was observed and Gurkha buglers from the HQBG paid tribute. The Baroness Flather JP DL, Chairman of the Memorial Gates Council - Inderjeet Singh Nijhar, Rt. Hon John Whittingdale Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport, Rt. Hon Baroness Scotland QC Secretary General of the Commonwealth Designate, the Rt. Revd and Rt. Hon. the Lord Bishop of London, Diplomatic heads from the Commonwealth Countries, Senior Army Officers of the British Army and Defence Attaché from the Commonwealth Countries were also present at the Ceremony.

66th National Democracy Day
The Embassy of Nepal, London celebrated the 66th National Democracy Day of Nepal on Falgun 07, 2072 i.e. 19th February 2016. The celebration started with the lighting of a candle by Charge’ d’ Affaires a. i. Mr. Tej Bahadur Chhetri and followed by National anthem. Thereafter, a moment of silence was observed in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives to the democracy and prosperity in the country. The day marks the establishment of democracy in Nepal by overthrowing the autocratic Rana regime on this very day (Falgun 7, 2007 B.S).

Send your Friends to Nepal
To mark 200 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the United Kingdom, promote tourism in Nepal & to present International Scout Scarf to Expedition members, Embassy of Nepal, London and Everest Inn jointly hosted a programme for the Lewisham North Scouts. The event “Send your Friends to Nepal” was held on Monday, 8 February 2016 at the Embassy. More than 100 guests attended the programme including well known Nepalese entrepreneur, media, leader of the expedition and scout members with their parents.

An interaction Programme with Nepalese Diaspora of UK in the presence of Hon’ble Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Kamal Thapa
Hon’ble Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Kamal Thapa visited United Kingdom in order to mark the Bicentenary relationship between Nepal and UK from December 16-19, 2015. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office of UK hosted the special Bicentenary reception to celebrate the Nepal-UK bicentenary on 16th December evening and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Hon’ble Kamal Thapa & Madame Thapa attended for this special occasion. During his visit, the Embassy of Nepal in London also organized an interaction Programme with the Nepalese Community in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon’ble Kamal Thapa on 19th December, 2015 at the Embassy with a view to let know the DPM’s meetings with British counterparts, ministers and high level officials and also current situation and political development in Nepal. Representatives of various Nepalese organizations in UK, sister organisations of Nepalese Political Parties, Federation of Nepalese Journalist (FNJ) UK branch, other media people and prominent personalities of Nepalese Diaspora were attended in the interaction programme.
