Send your Friends to Nepal
To mark 200 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the United Kingdom, promote tourism in Nepal & to present International Scout Scarf to Expedition members, Embassy of Nepal, London and Everest Inn jointly hosted a programme for the Lewisham North Scouts. The event “Send your Friends to Nepal” was held on Monday, 8 February 2016 at the Embassy. More than 100 guests attended the programme including well known Nepalese entrepreneur, media, leader of the expedition and scout members with their parents.

An interaction Programme with Nepalese Diaspora of UK in the presence of Hon’ble Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Kamal Thapa
Hon’ble Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Kamal Thapa visited United Kingdom in order to mark the Bicentenary relationship between Nepal and UK from December 16-19, 2015. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office of UK hosted the special Bicentenary reception to celebrate the Nepal-UK bicentenary on 16th December evening and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Hon’ble Kamal Thapa & Madame Thapa attended for this special occasion. During his visit, the Embassy of Nepal in London also organized an interaction Programme with the Nepalese Community in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon’ble Kamal Thapa on 19th December, 2015 at the Embassy with a view to let know the DPM’s meetings with British counterparts, ministers and high level officials and also current situation and political development in Nepal. Representatives of various Nepalese organizations in UK, sister organisations of Nepalese Political Parties, Federation of Nepalese Journalist (FNJ) UK branch, other media people and prominent personalities of Nepalese Diaspora were attended in the interaction programme.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Kamal Thapa meeting with UK authorities
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Kamal Thapa met yesterday his British counterpart Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Rt. Hon. Philip Hammond, MP at the latter’s office in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in London. The two sides exchanged views on the current situation in Nepal and on the occasion being organized by Nepal and UK to mark the bicentenary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minster Thapa briefed the British Foreign Minister on Nepal’s current political situation, including the promulgation of the new constitution and the difficulties being faced with the disruption of supplies of fuel and other essential commodities at Nepal-India border check points. He also raised the issue of the British Gurkhas and requested the British Government for solution of the problem on the basis of equality, including through the implementation of the recommendations contained in the parliamentary report of Jackie-Doyle Price. He also talked about the release of Mr Kumar Lama, ex-Officer in Nepal Army, especially in the context of the establishment of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Nepal.

NepalNOW Destination
The Embassy of Nepal and Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) jointly organized a grand “NepalNOW Destination” tourism promotion programme at the Embassy on 3rd November, 2015 with special focusses on the Post-earthquake revival of tourism in Nepal. The programme was organised at the Embassy on the second day of World Travel Market (WTM) 2015, which was held in Excel, London from 2nd to 5th November. Nepal Tourism Board and 20 travel and tourism related organizations in Nepal participated at the WTM. There were about one hundred attendees in the “NepalNOW Destination” programme in the Embassy. Among them some of the guest were member of parliament and many of them were travel & tour Operators, various Nepal connecting Airlines, travel writers, medias, Nepalese and British journalists, embassy staffs and as well as prominent members of Nepali communities based in the UK. The programme started with the National Anthem of Nepal.

Zee London Mela 2015
The Embassy of Nepal, London participated in the ZEE London Mela 2015, which was held at Gunnersbury Park on 6th September 2015. The Embassy of Nepal took part in the festivities to promote Nepal Tourism and Culture. The ZEE London Mela is inspired by South Asian culture. It is Europe's largest mela and attracts a diversity of audience every year. This year there were approximately 15,000 people. The Embassy of Nepal has been participating in this annual event since 2010.

Nepali Mela 2015
To celebrate the 200th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the UK, Embassy of Nepal, London and Tamu Dhee UK jointly organised Nepali Mela UK 2015 on Sunday, 30 August 2015 at Kempton Park race course, Middlesex. Nepal’s culture, tradition, and pride were the centre of the celebrations.
